While still at Cal I began working at Farallon Computing, a wonderful, creative startup where I honed my skills and ambitions. After starting an award-winning, boutique interactive design firm, Midnight Design, Inc., in 1992, I spent a few years contemplating life after the dot com crash and Sept. 11, 2001 (my wife and I were 40 blocks away from the twin towers on that fateful day). After a brief startup foray into voice-recognition with my brother, we co-founded a successful digital publishing company called Letters and Arts, Inc, which thrives today. In 2007, I sold 1/2 my stake and left day to day operations at L&A but remain involved as a shareholder.

Since then I've become more involved with LetsGoLearn.com, another thriving investment of mine, as well as many volunteer activities. In 2009 I was a seed investor in a medical startup company based on patented technology developed at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, called Presage Biosciences. In my spare time I play with my family, mountain bike, work on other investments, teach (Southern Oregon Univ), explore Hawaii, serve on Ashland's School Board and Forest Lands Commission, raise money for charities, create cancer education conferences and websites, and volunteer as a patient advocate with high grade cancer patients. My wife and I moved our 2 kids to my father's home town of Ashland, Oregon in 2005, a beautiful tourist town in the Rogue River Valley at the base of the Siskiyou Mountains.
